Often, you will hear people say that they need to change their Last Will And Testament. What they are really saying is that they need to make a new Will. After you have signed your Will do not write on it or strike out any words. Making written changes in your Will after you sign it, will void your Will. If you want someone else to receive your property or someone else to be the Executor of your estate, do not strike their names and write different names in your Will. Make a new Will.

1. Generally: You need to update your Last Will And Testament when it does not say what you want it to say. For instance, you may have changed your mind as to who you want to receive your property or who you want to take care of your minor children if something happens to you.

2. Marriage: State laws vary. Part or all of your Last Will And Testament may be voided if you marry or divorce. Therefore, if you either marry or divorce, you need to make a new Will.
